Mid-century, vintage, wall mount coat / hat rack with six hooks from the 1950s – 60s.
Piece is made of beech, with dark, rich, warm, oak-colored hues. The design features three, large, bentwood hooks on the upper tier, that are screwed into a half-circle shaped piece of plastic, and on the lower tier, three, smaller bentwood hooks, that end with barrel-shaped finishes (see photos.)
This type of half-moon shaped, wall-mount rack, is rather unusual to find, as more often than not, pieces designed like this, are usually standing/floor coat racks known as a “perroquet”, and were typically found in French bistros during this epoch.
The piece can easily be hung or mounted on any given wall, as it not only has a triangular hook at the top, but on the back, towards the bottom, there is a space in which to slide, then secure either a nail or small screw, making the piece that much more stable (see photos.)
The piece is in overall very good, original and vintage condition, with some light marks, signs of age and previous use commensurate with time, as well as a patina of time, on the overall structure, hooks, top, plastic, and bottom (see photos.) It is solid, stable and has only been gently cleaned and oiled with respect to its original patina of time.
All photos have been taken in natural light, so colors may vary based upon brightness, angles and perspective in which they are viewed.
