The ritual offering vessel of elegant form, with a wide splayed foot and squat pedestal supporting the body of the bowl. The deep body of the bowl rising nearly vertically to a thick lip and recessed mouth supporting the substantial lid.
The lid of the vessel slightly domed, decorated with concentric raised ridges, centered on a slightly raised nipple.
The patina on the exterior of the vessel with an attractive overall silvery gray color of even tone. The patina to the interior is a completely different story. An remarkable display of beauty is revealed when the lid is lifted. The interior of both the vessel and lid is covered in a stunning natural patina of green malachite and blue azurite. Photos fail to capture the richness and depth of color.
The vessel made for use in a ritual context to make offerings in temple worship.
