Here we have a very good quality early 18th century burr walnut bureau, with a well and stepped interior, a door and drawers on the inside. Sitting on bracket feet it also has a cross-cut waist moulding and the veneer is herringbone inlay .The veneer is on oak and the drawers are oak lined as are the inside drawers, also the ends are veneered in walnut but this time on pine. It is a practical piece of furniture and has a baize writing surface and the well is suitable for a laptop. The fall has a working lock and the small door also has a key. The brass handles looks to be period with the piece the top two bails are replacements.
