A fabulous and unusual early 19th Century William IV giltwood compartmental mirror, finely hand carved, of lovely quality and low and wide proportions. The moulded and fluted giltwood frame is surmounted with an overhanging inverse breakfront pediment above a deep panelled frieze with beautifully detailed ring turned pilaster column with acanthus leaf motif detail, beautifully hand carved in high relief, flanked with intricately detailed applied flowerhead paterae. The three compartmental mirror glass plates below are set within a lovely ebonised and reeded border flanked with a further pair of elegantly simple, ring turned pilaster columns with further acanthus leaf detail, supported on shaped platform base, terminating on giltwood ball foot.
