This elegant armchair has a traditional structure, with its high seat and its chassis frame.
On the front, a wide crosspiece presents a symmetrical sculpted decoration of scrolls of acanthus leaves, ending in a flower, and deployed on either side of a mascaron representing a winged siren with a bifid fish tail which curls at its ends.
On each side the connecting dice are adorned with a vertical garland composed in its upper part by a flower, with five petals, which fives rise to several scrolls of acanthus leaves. In the center of the dice is a row of fruits, probably apples.
The straight back extends its uprights with sculpted acanthus leaves. The backrest and seat have retained their original leather upholstery, fixed by several rows of brass nails.
The front upright, resting on dice carved with roses, and the armrest supports have a beautiful ribbed baluster turning.
The armrests are wide and flat.
Beautifully crafted, this armchair still offers and ornamental vocabulary from the end of French Renaissance; it ranks among the beautiful ceremonial and formal seats of this period.
