A fine and rare Anglo-Indian padouk wood cabinet on chest, the upper section with paneled doors opening to reveal 11 shelves lined in Fortuny style fabric over a central pull out shelf, the base fitted with 4 graduated drawers retaining their original wooden knobs. The cabinet has carry handles on the sides of both sections and rests on turned and reeded feet. This is a finely crafted and unusual piece of furniture retains a pleasing mellow color. Padouk is a rare and beautiful tropical hardwood with a lovely color. Circa 1840-1860.
