With a beautiful colour and natural deep patina, this charming joined oak press is original and of a small, very practical and usable size. In one piece, with original thickly hewn original backboards, the central door opens to upper and lower rows of original pegs and in the top there are two short hanging rails.
This is a really good and most attractive example. It is a compact and practical hall cupboard or wardrobe with early iron key and lock, the base inset with original single drawer and with large accessible storage below the hanging space for shoes etc.
All the timbers original, hand azed and peg jointed. Some minor natural shrinkage between the backboards and two open knots in the oak on the side panels. No faults or issues, structurally sound and really beautiful.
