Mid-Century Stilnovo Chandelier in Brass and 12 opaline globes, Italy 1950s This midcentury Italian brass chandelier by Stilnovo features 12 handblown opaline glass globes of exceptional quality. The soft globes diffuse light beautifully, creating a warm and welcoming glow. The fixture is made of brass and black lacquered metal, and the chandelier is designed to a high standard. It is compatible with E14 sockets and adheres to US/UK/ASIA standards, as well as being LED compatible. The chandelier has been cleaned, well-wired, and is in complete working order. The frame is in excellent condition, with a minor patina on the metal parts. Stilnovo, a lighting manufacturer founded by Bruno Gatta in 1946, became known for innovative products embodying rationalist, form-follows-function principles. In-house designer Gaetano Sciolari drove the company’s success in the postwar era. Dino Gatta’s invitation to the best designers of the day led to progressive design ideas and material experimentation. The company’s iconic designs were exhibited in MoMA’s landmark exhibition 1972 and are still popular today.
