Stunning wall lamp in rattan and bamboo produced in the 1960s in France and attributed to Louis Sognot. This rare and charming sconce feature a round shade with perfect geometric decorations in curved rattan. A great example of French organic mid-century craftsmanship, where bamboo and rattan are perfectly blended, with the materials enhancing the vertical elements of the item. Dimensions in cm: Width – 19,5 Depth – 20 Height – 28 Louis Sognot was a French designer best known for his elegant furniture made from a combination of rattan and wood. Sognot was influenced by Art Deco and Cubist aesthetics, giving his work a unique stylistic touch while still being usable. Born on May 25, 1892 in Paris, France, Sognot studied at École Bernard-Pablissy before working as a designer at the Au Printemps department store in Paris in 1919. The designer became a founding member of the Union des Artistes Decoroteurs. He died in 1970 in Paris, France.
