Vintage Design
Very rare elegant Murano glass lamp by Carlo Nason for Mazzega. Recognized by connoisseurs as a true iconic design. Made in Italy in the 1960s.
Italian designer Carlo Nason was born into a family of expert glassmakers in 1935 in Murano, Venice. His father, Vincenzo Nason, directed the renowned glass business NasonMoretti and opened a second glass business under the name Vincenzo Nason & C in 1941. from an early age, the Carlo Nason received training in the art of glassblowing, learning about both the properties of the material and the artisanal techniques used in glass molding and decoration.
Two glasses are made in the “Pulegoso” technique and are assembled on a metal suspension. The “pulegoso” glass is made using a method that was often used in the 1920s, with the addition of gasoline to thereby cause the glass to boil in a melt. Countless tiny air bubbles of irregular shape inside the glass mass deliberately limit its transparency.
Very good vintage condition. On the top glass there is a small chip that mostly isn’t seen when the lamp is assembled (check the last photo). The wiring is suitable for all countries in the world. Maximum height with cable 120 cm. The chandelier weighs 9 kg.
