The upper panel has a central carving of a fanned palmette encircled by a ring of fluting. Additional fluting emanates towards the corners of a square border of chevrons that surround the medallion. The recessed panel has multiple layers of quarter round and cavetto molding that mirrors the moldings that surround the entire door. 12 Quadrilateral carvings with two layers of molding embellish the center panel, which also contains the handles and an adjacent pierced and shaped escutcheon. The bottom panel is once again recessed, with a raised octagon atop two layers of molding.
Our pair of 17th century oak armoire doors have a rich patina that is accentuated by several coats of French wax. Use them in the kitchen for doors for a walk-in pantry or cupboard panels. They would also make unique decorative wall panels.
