Original stems
Pair of firedogs with ionic columns, surmounted by a baluster finial. At the base, one can see two interesting heads decorated with collars. The column motif is typical of the Henri II period. It was used also on cabinet, table legs along with Renaissance architectural motifs such as pilasters, columns, capitals…
This fashion came from Italy and will be in favour in France all along the 16th and 17th centuries.
