A fine set of eight stunning, high-quality early 19th-century original William IV period solid mahogany dining chairs, inspired by classical Greek design. The chairs feature broad, figured solid mahogany shaped bar backs supported by scrolled, carved, stylized Corinthian capital blocks, with carved bars and reeded uprights. These chairs have stuff-over seats, ready for reupholstering, with seat frame edges displaying a curved, molded profile. They are raised on turned, fluted front legs with sabre legs at the rear. The condition of this set of eight dining chairs is excellent for their age. The set retains its original polish, resulting in a fantastic depth of colour and patination, showcasing a lovely rich red and brown colour. The seat height is 45 cm.
