Set of four William 4th rosewood side chairs with exquisitely carved crest rail and splat, the upholstered seats are removable to reveal a cane seat( however doing so would create a very low seat height at 15.75 inches). Nicely tapered and reeded front legs ; back legs have a very graceful sweep. Rosewood is very difficult to carve as it is quite dense and chips easily, the craftsman that created such crisp and detailed carving was obviously very skilled; each chair weighs 14 pounds.
