A very handsome and exceptionally heavy set of six William IV sterling silver table spoons / serving spoons in the King’s Pattern.
All six bearing London hallmarks, four with date mark for 1832 and maker’s marks for noted London silversmith Jonathan Hayne, the remaining pair bearing date marks for 1834, with rubbed makers marks.
The fronts of all six handles bearing engraved family crests & motto ‘FIDELITER’ (‘Upright & Faithful’), the reverse of all six featuring robust shell-shaped heels, with four also showing shell-shaped motifs at the handle.
Four spoons measuring 9″ long, the remaining pair measuring a fraction shorter at 8.7/8″ long.
The bowls are relatively quite large, measuring approximately 3.25″ long x 2″ wide, making them quite serviceable as serving spoons.
All six remain in exceptionally good overall condition and are cast in a very heavy gauge of silver, having a noteworthy combined weight of 624 grams, or 20.06 troy ounces!
