Constructed in mahogany, rising from caster shod scrolled toe cabriole legs to the front and rear, the knees carved with addorsed ‘C’ scrolls, dressed with pendant foliates, the seat frame channelled and moulded, of exuberant serpentine form: The front rail having a scallop shell to the centre, issuing richly carved foliates, the seat upholstered and it’s padded swept arms conjoining the shaped balloon back, the serpentine top rail bearing a carved Ducal Crown, the coat of arms below and the Latin motto, ‘Malo Mori Quam Foederi’, ‘Death Before Dishonour’, carved on a ribband,
